about

Hi friends,

This is a wee collection of songs I've written over the past few years. I use two microphones to record each song, had some good friends come in to lend their beautiful voices, and locked myself in a derelict building for a week to make it happen. It's a strange thing.

It's also my mum's birthday today, and she once told me, years ago, that a gift she'd truly cherish would be a recorded copy of some of my music. Sorry it took me so long to make good on that offer. Happy birthday, mum.

I hope it blesses you.

Track Name: All Heading West
Ride this train until you find yourself further west
Keep your pace, this new land's nearly here
Somerset

There's no way of knowing
I see the road ahead, there's no telling what comes next
When we're all just heading west

Don't look back, the best is yet to come
Look ahead
Pack your bags and find some-one you love
And let's go

These winding roads have since come back to prove them all the same
That nothing in this journey is too close
And so I find myself inside a never-ending race
That I don't wanna, don't wanna, don't want to stop

Even when there's no way of knowing...
Track Name: I Am Not My Own (ft. Katie Cantrell)
I am not my own, I am not because of me
I'm not what I've done for all was done selfishly
All I am is naught save for the burden of my sin

You are not my own, you are not in debt to me
Not for what you've done, nor what you have done selfishly
All you are is dust save for the love you keep within

I can't claim what's not rightfully mine
And I don't think you're rightfully mine

We are not our own, we were never made to be
We are part of what is given to all selflessly
All we are on earth, all that's in our hands
All that we call ours
All that we hold dear save for the sin that plagues our love
All of us will fall save for the one who bought our sin
Track Name: Wildfire
All the daylight squandered just for this night
Sleeping bodies, eyes pried open 'til morning light
For twelve years, a flame wouldn't dare burn this bright
But darling, tonight is a widlfire - tonight is a wildfire

Chances are chance took the best out of our lungs
But maybe, just maybe our luck has just begun
For twelve years, I never saw you come so alive
But darling, tonight you're a wildfire - tonight you're a wildfire

Fingers worn brittle, as long as our voices last
This music, our almost, will never the surface scratch
For twelve years, these eyes closed only for the night
But darling, tonight you're a wildfire - tonight you're a wildfire
Track Name: Knees
I cannot keep my soul at peace nor can I stop its voice
It ceaseless boasts of perfect love and humbly does rejoice
That He who spoke us up from dust, whose breath shook loose the earth
Would call upon my very name and make me His concern

I cannot let my heart grow faint, nor let such glory dim
I yearn to keep alive the flame that love has lit within
Though all the joy I've known this far I know is just a taste
Of all the perfect love of God and all His glorious ways

How my love is full of songs for You

Oh, how You've proven true to me how I need not lay the fleece
Though I give heed to trivial things, oh, the harrowing imagery
Of Your body hung upon a tree has worn skin off my knees
I prostrate lay before Your grace knowing You are all I need
Knowing You are all I need, You are all I need
You are all I need

How my love is full of songs for You
Track Name: Too Soon
Oh my brother, when you walk away
Please don't close your eyes
Blindfolded leading the blind

Oh, my brother, when you take your leave
Please don't waste your lungs
Just take breaths, little by little

Oh, you're chipping at the sides
Oh, and you dream too little
Now before you fall, you breathe too soon
Just before you fall, you breathe too soon

Oh my brother, when you see me next
Don't think I've forgotten how to love
Little by little
Track Name: All Things Wearisome (ft. N Sherman)
Wind in its eternal course
Round and round and round it goes
Racing to the north and south
As streams are running to the sea
Each will meet it faithfully
But the oceans are never full

Round and round each of us
Round in this eternal course
That we may never complete
Round and round each of us
Going to the north and south
But never tasting the end

The sun will both rise and set
The leaves both grow and fall
They spring back to life after death
All things are wearisome
All things are wearisome

What has been will be again
There is nothing new under the sun
But I can't have enough
Surely my eyes won't see enough
Nor shall my ears be satisfied
What has been will be again
Labours born under the sun
Toiling 'til the work is done
But tell me, can you see the point?
There is no man who truthfully cries:
"Look around, the earth is new,
Hear these brand new words!"

The sun will both rise and set
The leaves both grow and fall
They spring back to life after death
All things are wearisome
All things are wearisome
What has been will be again

It was here, it was here before our time
It was all here long ago

The sun with both rise and set (it was here before our time)
The leaves both grow and fall (it was all here long ago)
They spring back to life after death (it was here before our time)
When all things are wearisome, all things are brilliant
When what has been will be again...

Behold
I am making all things new
